So here goes an idea (I believe I’m sort of the second person coming up with this?):
National Music Writing Month, as a variation on Nanowrimo.
During one month (November I guess?), the plan would be to work on writing a complete single song all by yourself
. Unlike Nanowrimo, where focus on quantity matters, the idea of Namuwrimo would be focus on quality, working on that same song for the full month. And who knows? Perhaps after a month of work, something really nice could come out
.
Perhaps, if enough people want to join, we could even make a small compilation afterwards of all the songs that have been made during the month.
So…stupid idea, or do people want to join?
Hi – I just landed here Googling namuwrimo as an alternative to nacowrimo (for composition), which I thought of a few days ago. I’m more kick-starting myself to just compose *anything* on a daily basis, so my current goal is to write or harmonize 8 bars a day, not necessarily related to the prior day’s composition… though I hope to come up with some bits that I’m moved to expand into a full work at some point, if not this month.
Cheers,
Betty

Hi Betty,
Thanks for dropping by at this little messy place!
Well.. apparently 3 of my friends are willing to join with this as well. I guess we can all just do our own version of this, and keep each other updated on our progress?
Cheers,
